This page is for all our wonderful volunteers to find resources for the 12 hours of in-service required every year. It is also a wonderful opportunity to share educational materials with those who just want to know a little more about what we do, those we serve, and the other systems that serve them as well.
Texas CASA is doing monthly webinars! This is a great way to get your in-service training hours and to learn more about the children we serve. Of course you can attend all the webinars at our office but you can also connect at home using the link below. Just remember you have to register to attend.

The Language of Flowers, by Vanessa Deffenbaugh, is a mesmerizing, moving, and elegantly written novel. It beautifully weaves past and present, creating a vivid portrait of an unforgettable woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. Victoria Jones spent her childhood in the foster-care system. As a result, she is unable to get close to anybody, and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings. I recently finished this novel, which tells a story a unique story about a woman who spent her childhood in the foster-care system. It is a great read in general, and if I read your new in-service training form correctly, reading books must count for training hours accumulated. -Joe Birmingham (CASA of Parker County Volunteer)
New resource for all volunteers to get in service hours! DFPS has put up a training on recognizing child abuse in your community. It is at your own pace online, is pretty short reading, and has some videos. http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Training/Reporting/default.asp
